Women Connecting Women (Newberry) names Tené Dara Greenwood as 2026 Woman of the Year

The Women Connecting Women (Newberry) Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) has named Tené Dara Greenwood its 2026 Woman of the Year. The Chapter’s top annual honor recognizes a member for outstanding achievements in career, education, chapter involvement, and community action. Greenwood will be recognized publicly on Saturday, November 8, 2025, during the Chapter’s 5th Annual “Evening of Excellence” celebration at Newberry College, Center for Teacher Education (1121 Speers Street, Newberry, SC).

A devoted and impactful member since 2020, Greenwood has served Women Connecting Women in multiple leadership roles, including Professional Development Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Hospitality Chair, and Best Practices Chair. Under her leadership, the Chapter earned Best Practices in League Management—one of ABWA’s highest chapter honors—for four consecutive years. Greenwood continues to elevate chapter programming by coordinating impactful speakers, organizing professional trainings, and strengthening internal communications. A lifelong learner, she has completed professional development courses such as Six Sigma Learning Essentials. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Virginia Union University.

She built an accomplished 28-year career at Quorum Federal Credit Union, advancing through multiple leadership positions and helping implement policies still in use today. Her cross-functional experience spans Finance, Lending, Branch Management, Business Development, and Human Resources (Training & Development), with work

assignments across the United States, including New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Iowa, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and California. She is currently employed with the State of South Carolina and remains committed to excellence, accountability, and service.

Inspired by her ABWA sisters, Greenwood is expanding her services as a South Carolina Notary Public with plans to grow into a full-time business. She and her husband, George Greenwood, are co-owners of GG’s Lawn, LLC, where “every yard is treated like our own,” reflecting their pride in curb appeal year-round.

Beyond her professional and chapter contributions, Greenwood is deeply engaged in community service. She volunteers as an usher at the Newberry Opera House and serves on the by-laws committee for Western Light Chapter #77, Order of Eastern Star. Her unwavering dedication, leadership, and passion for service embody the spirit of ABWA and the Women of the Year distinction.

Women Connecting Women is a local league of

ABWA serving Newberry County and surrounding communities. Chartered in November 2020, WCW fosters personal and professional growth through leadership, education, networking, and national recognition.

Since 1949, the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) has brought together businesswomen of diverse occupations, providing opportunities for them to grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition. Membership is open to working women, business owners, retired professionals, and college students.

The 5th Annual “Evening of Excellence” celebration at Newberry College, Center for Teacher Education (1121 Speers Street, Newberry, SC) will be held on November 8, 2025 with dinner, dancing, vendors, a silent auction, and awards recognitions. Advanced ticketing is required. The ticketed celebration is open to the public.
