“Positive News for a Positive Community”

Four Decades of Telling Our Story

Carolina Panorama has served the Black community of Columbia, South Carolina and the Midlands region for more than forty years. Founded by the visionary Nathaniel Abraham Sr., the paper was built on a simple but powerful conviction: that the people of the Midlands deserved a trusted, independent voice—one that reflected their lives, celebrated their achievements, and held institutions accountable on their behalf.

From its earliest editions, Carolina Panorama set itself apart by leading with community pride rather than sensationalism. Where others led with crime and conflict, Carolina Panorama elevated the entrepreneurs, educators, faith leaders, and everyday families who make the Midlands great.

“Positive News for a Positive Community” is more than a slogan—it is an editorial commitment we have honored every issue, for every reader, for over four decades.

A Son Carries His Father’s Vision Forward

Today, Carolina Panorama is led by Nathaniel Abraham Jr., who grew up watching his father build something irreplaceable—a newspaper that the community trusted completely. Nathaniel Jr. has expanded on that foundation, bringing Carolina Panorama into the digital era while keeping the paper’s core identity intact.

His leadership has been recognized beyond the pages of the paper itself. Nathaniel Abraham Jr. has served in a leadership capacity with the South Carolina Press Association, representing Black press interests alongside the broader state media community.

Under his stewardship, Carolina Panorama has expanded its digital presence, added a classifieds marketplace, and deepened its coverage to better serve readers across Richland, Lexington, Orangeburg, and Fairfield counties. The mission, however, remains unchanged: authentic, community-rooted journalism by and for the people of the Midlands.
