W.J. Keenan High School’s Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band won first place overall for Class AA during the Spirit of the Cardinal Band Competition. The event was held September 20 at Phillip O. Berry High School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band competed against bands from across North Carolina and South Carolina.
In addition to placing first overall, the marching band placed first in four categories for Class AA:

“We are very proud of our students and our band staff for these accomplishments. Congratulations to our band members for a job well done,” said Howard Parnell, W.J. Keenan’s director of bands.
The band also placed second in the percussion category and third in the drum major and flags categories.
