W.J. Keenan Animal Science II Class to hold Easter Community Dog Grooming Event

Keenan High School’s Animal Science II class will hold a special dog grooming event for the community Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the school (361 Pisgah Church Road, Columbia, SC 29203).

Community members can drop off and pick up their dogs in Keenan’s teacher parking lot. No appointment is necessary. All dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Grooming costs $ 25 . Dogs will receive a bath and blow dry, as well as nail, oral and ear care.

Proceeds from this event will go to Keenan’s agriculture department’s FFA (an organization for students interested in

agriculture) chapter.

The Animal Science II class raised a combined total of around $3,500 from three dog grooming events in October, December and February. This event is the class’ final community dog grooming event of

the school year.

“This event is important for the current grooming students because it will put the skills they have learned and practiced all year to the test. Community events such as this one allow my students to showcase their own abilities as well as advocate for our program,” said Keenan agriculture teacher Maria Ausburn.

The eight students currently taking the class groom dogs three to four days a week and work

with all types of dogs.

If you are unable to attend the event, you can book an appointment during the week.
