Voorhees University is proud to recognize several outstanding student leaders who represented the institution at the NASAP Student Leadership Institute (SLI) 2026, held May 27 – June 1, 2026, at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The NASAP Student Leadership Institute is a six-day intensive, interactive, and engaging leadership development experience designed specifically for newly elected leaders from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The program equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to effectively lead their organizations and positively impact their campus communities. Student leaders from Student Government Associations, Royal Courts, Greek Councils, Programming Boards, Class Officer organizations, and Student Ambassador programs from nearly 50 HBCUs across the nation participated in this year’s institute.
Representing Voorhees University were:
• Jaydon Robinson, Student Government Association President-Elect
• Jayda Stackhouse, 59th Miss Voorhees University-Elect
• Toreyon Anderson, Mister Junior-Elect
• Ta’Nia Hickson, Miss Junior-Elect
Throughout the week, participants engaged in leadership workshops, team-building activities, strategic planning sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions focused on servant leadership, student advocacy, organizational management, campus engagement, and personal development.
The institute challenged students to think critically about their responsibilities as campus leaders while developing practical strategies to elevate the student experience at their respective institutions. Participants also had the opportunity to connect with fellow student leaders from HBCUs nationwide, exchanging ideas and best practices that can be implemented at Voorhees University.
“The NASAP Student Leadership Institute provided our students with a valuable opportunity to learn from experienced higher education professionals and student leaders from across the country,” said Marcus Campbell, Director of Campus Life and Engagement Initiatives. “These experiences help strengthen our student leaders’ confidence, broaden their perspectives, and prepare them to lead with purpose, integrity, and excellence as they serve the Voorhees University community during the 2026-2027 academic year.”
The Office of Campus Life and Engagement Initiatives remains committed to developing transformational leaders who embody the mission and values of Voorhees University. Participation in programs such as the NASAP Student Leadership Institute reflects the university’s ongoing investment in leadership development, student success, and civic engagement.
As they prepare to assume their leadership roles for the upcoming academic year, these student leaders return to campus equipped with new ideas, enhanced leadership skills, and a renewed commitment to advancing the student experience while representing Voorhees University with distinction.
