Voorhees University is proud to announce a transformative $19 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. This remarkable investment is the largest donation in the university’s history. This latest contribution follows a $4 million gift in 2020, received just two months prior to the appointment of Dr. Ronnie Hopkins as President and CEO of Voorhees University. MacKenzie Scott’s decision to provide additional support reflects its recognition of Voorhees’ outstanding growth, innovation, and sustained impact over the past several years.
Since 2020, Voorhees has achieved significant milestones, including its transition from college to university status and the expansion of its academic portfolio to offer master’s and doctoral degree programs. Voorhees also holds the distinction of being the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the nation to be a charter school authorizer, extending its commitment to education from early learning through advanced degrees.
