Voorhees University ranked among Top 10 HBCUs for four-year graduation rates by U.S. News & World Report

Voorhees University has once again earned national recognition, ranking #9 among all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for four-year graduation rates in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. This marks the third time Voorhees has appeared on this prestigious list and affirms its growing reputation as a leader in student success and academic excellence.

The university also holds the distinction of being the #1 HBCU in South Carolina, further solidifying its impact across the state and the nation.

“This milestone is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to our students’ success,” said Voorhees University President Hopkins. “Being named among the top HBCUs in the country for the third time speaks to the excellence, consistency, and intentional support we provide to ensure students graduate on time and ready to make a difference.”

While HBCUs across the nation continue to navigate structural barriers—from financial hardship to personal obligations that often delay degree completion—Voorhees stands out for its proactive approach. The university has implemented comprehensive student-centered strategies, including personalized academic advising, degree mapping, financial aid guidance, mental health services, and career planning, to ensure that students stay on track and graduate within four years.

This national recognition highlights Voorhees University’s ability to deliver measurable outcomes in student success despite broader challenges that affect many institutions. The ranking reflects Voorhees’ ongoing efforts to strengthen retention and graduation through innovative, data-driven approaches and holistic student support.
