Voorhees University announces the appointment of Sierra Artemus as its new Director of Marketing and Communications, effective July 15, 2026. In this role, Artemus will lead the university’s communications and marketing efforts.
Artemus brings more than a decade of experience in media relations, public affairs, and broadcast production to the position. Most recently, she served as Director of Marketing and Communications for Dianne’s Call (FarmaSis), where she led integrated marketing and communications initiatives, directed brand messaging, and managed content strategy across digital and social platforms.
Her background spans both broadcast journalism and public information roles. She has served as a Multimedia Coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Office of Public Information, where she led statewide multimedia campaigns spotlighting South Carolina veterans, and as a Contract Communications Coordinator with Wholespire and the SC Department of Health, where she developed public health messaging and outreach strategy statewide.
Artemus’s broadcast career includes several years as an anchor, producer, and reporter for WISTV News, where she developed and co-hosted two original lifestyle programs, “Soda City Live” and “Soda City Living,” overseeing production from concept through on-air execution. She also produced live morning news broadcasts for WOLO (ABC Columbia), coordinated freelance segments for the University of South Carolina’s “Inside Carolina” alumni program, and currently hosts “Palmetto Perspectives” for South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV).
Artemus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Carolina and an Associate’s of Art degree from Midlands Technical College. She is an active board member of the Palmetto Citizens Foundation and the Range Fore Hope Foundation, and has actively served on the board for The Therapy Place for 3 years as Secretary, as well as assisting with communications and fundraising. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
