Voorhees University to celebrate 128th Commencement Acclaimed Actor John Marshall Jones named Commencement Speaker

Outside of acting, Jones is the national spokesperson for Guide Right and the creator of Kappa League TV (kappaleague.tv), an innovative media platform designed to empower and mentor young men of color

through leadership development and storytelling.

“John Marshall Jones is not only a celebrated actor, but also a passionate advocate for education and youth empowerment,” said Voorhees University President Dr. Ronnie Hopkins. “His presence at our

128th Commencement Ceremony will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they prepare to write their own powerful stories of leadership and purpose in the world.”

In celebration of the graduating class’s academic and personal achievements, Voorhees University will also host its 2025 Baccalaureate & Hooding Ceremony on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Massachusetts Hall, 151 Academic Circle, Denmark, SC 29042. This revered tradition honors students’ scholarly accomplishments in a spiritual setting and includes the ceremonial conferral of academic hoods. The keynote address will be delivered by The Reverend Canon Ramelle McCall, offering a message of reflection and encouragement as graduates prepare for their next journey.
