The University of South Carolina Alumni Association’s Black Alumni Council will host the annual Richard T. Greener Scholarship Breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Pastides Alumni Center.
The breakfast brings alumni, students and friends together during homecoming weekend to honor Richard Theodore Greener, the university’s first Black faculty member, and support the scholarship established in his name. Net proceeds benefit the Richard T. Greener Scholarship Fund.
Greener joined the university’s faculty in 1873 and served until 1877. The scholarship honors his scholarly work, achievements and enduring legacy.
