The Ministerial Movement: Revival of the Vote is a faith-based civic engagement initiative that reminds us that voting is not simply a political act—it is a moral responsibility. Throughout history, the Black church has been the cornerstone of the Civil Rights Movement, providing hope, courage, leadership, and a place where communities could organize for change. Today, we are called to reclaim that legacy.
Just as traditional church revivals are designed to renew our spiritual commitment, the Revival of the Vote is designed to renew our civic commitment. It is a revival of purpose, responsibility, and action. We are reviving our understanding that our voices matter, our votes matter, and our future depends on our participation.
This movement seeks to educate citizens about the electoral process, engage congregations in meaningful conversations about issues affecting their communities, encourage eligible voters to participate in every election, empower individuals with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions, and promote Early Voting as a practical way to remove barriers to participation. These are the 5 Es of Voting:
• Educate – Learn the issues, the process, and your rights.
• Engage – Become actively involved in your community.
• Encourage – Inspire family, friends, and neighbors to vote.
• Empower – Equip others with knowledge and confidence.
• Early Vote – Make a plan and vote before Election Day.
The Revival of the Vote also strengthens relationships between faith leaders and the communities they serve by creating opportunities for fellowship, worship, education, and civic participation. Through gospel music, prayer, preaching, testimony, youth engagement, and voter education, the movement reaches hearts while equipping minds.
In a time when voter participation is declining and misinformation is increasing, this initiative reminds us that democracy works best when everyone participates. The church remains one of the most trusted institutions in many communities, making it uniquely positioned to encourage informed, nonpartisan civic engagement.
The Ministerial Movement: Revival of the Vote declares that faith and civic responsibility can work together to build stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger democracy.
