Tuesday, September 17 marked the grand opening of Dulce Bakery & Cafe, a delightful new addition to Columbia’s Vista District. Owned by Sharisa Boyle, this charming establishment promises to satisfy both sweet tooths and savory cravings alike.
After six and a half years of running a successful bakery in Irmo that specialized in custom cakes and cupcakes, Sharisa Boyle is ready to embark on her next culinary adventure. Dulce Bakery & Cafe, located at 1213 Lincoln Street, aims to become a onestop shop for breakfast, lunch, and delectable treats.
Dulce offers a carefully
curated menu that strikes a perfect balance between sweet indulgences and hearty fare. Visitors can enjoy delicious coffee and lattes made in house, soups, salads, sandwiches and an array of sweet treats.
“We want people to come for lunch and not feel like they’re cheating by coming to a bakery,” Sharisa explains. “They can have soup, a salad, or even a cookie – it’s all about options.”
Sharisa envisions Dulce as more than just a cafe.
“We want it to be a space where people can come whether it’s a student working
on assignments or someone enjoying coffee and crumb cake for breakfast,” she said. “The ambiance strikes a balance between elegance and comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere for all occasions.”
The name “Dulce” holds special significance for Sharisa and her family.
“We are Puerto Rican,” she shares, “and ‘dulce’ means sweet in Spanish. It’s something we heard growing up, so it speaks
to the sweet nature of what we offer.”
While she is currently focusing on establishing the cafe, Sharisa has plans to expand their services in the future, including adding catering to their repertoire.
