On Sunday, March 8, Zion Baptist Church celebrated Women’s Day. The theme: “Zion Women Preparing with Purpose”, Scripture: Romans 12:11.
Mrs. Calvernetta Beasley Williams, was presented as the 2026 Woman of the Year. This recognition celebrates her unwavering dedication, faithful service, and meaningful contributions to the church.
Working tirelessly behind the scenes, Mrs. Williams has used her talents to preserve and strengthen the historic legacy of Zion Baptist Church. She has been instrumental in securing funding for the restoration of the church’s infrastructure ensuring that this important landmark will continue to serve future generations.
As chairperson of the Historical Committee, Mrs. Williams played a vital role in preserving Zion Baptist Church’s rich history and significance within the community. Her leadership helped bring renewed recognition to the church and contributed to the city’s decision to rename a nearby street in honor of Zion Baptist Church.
Over the years, she has been a devoted loving wife and business partner alongside her husband, A.P. Williams III. Even now into his elder years.
Her faith, perseverance, and dedication are an inspiration to many. Zion Baptist Church presents the daughter of the late C.D. Beasley, Sr., and Lucinda Sherman Beasley, and wife of A.P. Williams III, Mrs. Calvernetta Beasley Williams as Woman of the Year for 2026.
