St. Luke’s Episcopal Church showcases both national and local talent during Black History Month

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 1300 Pine Street in Columbia invites you to join us as we continue our Black History Month celebration. “Our celebration began with a trip to the International African American Museum in Charleston. It was important for us to honor our history, our sacrifices and the contributions made by our forefathers”, said Father Raphiell Ashford, Rector. Honoring the national theme, Black History and the Arts, St. Luke’s is showcasing the talents of both national and local notable artist, authors, poets, vocalist and orators.

This week’s events include our Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day celebration on February 13th from { 5 {: 0 0 } \mathrm { p. m } } . to 8 {: } 0 0 \mathrm { p. m } . in Griffin Hall. Shrove Tuesday is a Christian tradition that marks the day before the start of Lent. South Carolina State University’s

Brass Quintet directed by Dr. Stephen Reid and featuring Dr. H. Wade Johnson, Director of Bands Benedict College will serve as entertainment beginning at 6 {: } 0 0 \mathrm { p. m } . The price for the pancake dinner and entertainment is $8.00 for adults and $ 600 for children. Join us on February 14 at 6:30 p.m. for our Ash Wednesday service.
