Just like on the “Shark Tank” television show, the young entrepreneurs had to give a presentation about their businesses in front of a panel of judges. The kids were judged on how innovative their businesses are, the market potential of their products or services, their presentation skills and an overall impression.
The young entrepreneurs owned or planned to launch businesses in a wide variety industries, such as tutoring, apparel, cosmetics, hair products and jewelry. The first-place winner was Lauren Pearson of Clarendon County. Lauren’s company produces clothing and apparel for individuals and corporations, such as custom t-shirts and hoodies with a company’s logo on them. The 14-year-old honor student launched the company
when she was only 10 years old.
Other finalists include Harmonie Moore, a 12-yearold Moncks Corner native who owns a reading skills and tutoring service, and A’Mya Goodwin, who launched her own line of cosmetics products.
