South Carolina State University is mourning the loss of Col. (Ret.) Alfred P. Glover, an accomplished alumnus, military officer and dedicated supporter of the university.
Glover, a 1953 SC State graduate and retired U.S. Army colonel, built a career defined by leadership, discipline and service to his country. Following his military career, he remained committed to public service and community engagement, reflecting the values instilled during his time at SC State.
A loyal son of the university, Glover maintained a strong connection to his alma mater and was an advocate for its mission and students.
In 2006, he and his wife, Parniest Glover, Class of 1954, were inducted into the Thomas E. Miller Society in
recognition of their significant contributions and enduring support of SC State.
His legacy of generosity continues through the Colonel Alfred and Mrs. Parniest Glover Endowment Fund, which provides support for future generations of students.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. April 11 at Mission Mortuary & Mission Memorial Park in Seaside, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Colonel Alfred and Mrs. Parniest Glover Endowment Fund. Donations may be made online at www.scsu.edu/give/ now.php.
