Dr. Edward Louis Hill Jr. has been selected to serve as interim president of Talladega College following the recent resignation of former president Gregory J. Vincent.
Talladega College is a historically Black college in Talladega, Alabama. The college
enrolls about 830 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students. Black students represent 84 percent of the undergraduate population.
Dr. Hill has extensive experience in K-12 and higher education, holding both academic and administrative positions. Prior to his interim appointment, he served Talladega College as associate provost and dean of life-long and professional development. Before he joined the Talladega College community, he was an associate professor and dean of the College of Education at Texas A&M University-Central Texas and Fort Valley State University in Georgia.
In addition to his university appointments, Dr. Hill has experience in advisory and
public service positions. The University of Georgia System previously appointed him to the President’s Diversity Commission, where he developed diversity programming and policies for many of the system’s schools. He was also appointed by Governor Gregg Abbott to the Texas State Board of Education Committee on Teacher Preparation and Certification.
Dr. Hill is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he majored in early childhood education. He holds a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction from Columbia College in South Carolina and a doctorate in educational leadership from South Carolina State University.
