South Carolina State University Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Marketing Kendrick D. Lewis has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame (SCAHOF).

The SCAHOF is one of the state’s premier organizations dedicated to honoring athletic achievement and preserving South Carolina’s rich sports history.
Lewis is an award-winning communications and marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications and sports marketing.
He oversees the Office of Athletic Strategic Communications and Marketing for SC State Athletics. He also serves as the department’s sport oversight administrator for women’s golf.
“I am truly humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve South Carolina State University on the prestigious South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame Board of Directors,” Lewis said. “I am sincerely grateful to Athletic Director Buddy Pough, retired Sports Information Director Bill Hamilton and SCAHOF Executive Director Andy Solomon for their confidence and trust in appointing me to this distinguished board.
“I look forward to representing South Carolina State University with integrity while working alongside such an outstanding group of leaders to help preserve and celebrate the rich history of athletics in South Carolina,” he said.
His appointment to the SCAHOF Board of Directors reflects a longstanding commitment to collegiate athletics and community service throughout South Carolina. Lewis also serves as co-chair of the South Carolina State Athletic Hall of Fame voting committee and is a voting committee member for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame.
A respected leader in collegiate athletics, Lewis serves as a voting member for several national college football polls and has held leadership roles with numerous organizations, including the Orangeburg Touchdown Club Board of Directors and the Hillcrest Golf Commission Board of Directors, where he serves as vice president. He is also a member of the Orangeburg Morning Rotary.
In 2023, Lewis was selected for the College Sports Communicators Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship, becoming part of only the second fellowship class in the program’s history. His professional development credentials also include graduation from the NCAA Leadership Institute for Minority Males and Females and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute.
Lewis was recognized as South Carolina State University’s Staff Employee of the Year for the Division of the Office of the President in 2013.
A native of Mullins, South Carolina, Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in journalism from South Carolina State University in 2004. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership from American College of Education and is expected to graduate in July 2027.
Lewis maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including College Sports Communicators, the Football Writers Association of America, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the National Collegiate Marketing Association, and the Black College Sports Information Directors Association. He also serves on the College Sports Communicators Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Established in the late 1950s, the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame inducted its inaugural class in 1960 and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to sports in South Carolina and beyond. The Hall of Fame is housed at the South Carolina State Museum, where it celebrates and preserves the legacy of nearly 350 inductees.
