South Carolina State Inducted its 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame Class Friday, November1, during a special Enshrinement Ceremony at Sulit. The Enshrinement was preceded by a 6 p.m. reception.

The 2024 Class included six individuals and the 1992- 93 Cheerleading Team that captured the inaugural MEAC Cheerleading Championship.

1 Individuals inducted included former football standouts Rafael Bush, Heyward Golden, Darius “Shaquille” Leonard, and Joe Thomas, Jr., track and field star Retrina Lovett Dunn, and contributor Douglas Gantt.

Sixteen members of the 1992-93 cheerleading team, which won the inaugural Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s Cheerleading Competition, were inducted, along with the head coach. Eleven members and the head coach attended the ceremony.

Cheer squad members attending included Terrence Buckson, Angela Jones Howze, Brian Jeter, BerNadette Lawson-Williams, Laura Vandross McFadden, Kimberly Lamb Pace, Rico Snell, Monique English Thomas, Tonia Woodbury, and head coach Wilma McCoy. Marvette Scott Waddy was represented by her daughter Destiny Waddy and Dr. Dermont Spell was represented by his father, Dr. Charlie Spell.

Cheryl Cobarras Bradbury, Andre Jackson, Lamont Taylor, Pernell Robinson, and Catrina Bradley Southall, and assistant coach Cynthia Smith Jones were unable to attend.
