Victoria Dozier, wife of Dr. John Dozier, President of Columbia College. Dr. Dozier was absent due to an emergency and he has rescheduled a future date. At that time, President Dozier will discuss, in detail, the vision for Columbia College.

Representative Herbert’s presentation included some of the following topics:

  • Building Affordable Housing for All – (affordable housing is not low cost housing)

  • Building Food Security – (rebates for grocery stories in needed areas)

  • Build Up our Youth – (promote effective programs to encourage our youth and address violent crime prevention)

  • Notify all business owners of vacant or seriously deteriorating buildings (offer advice)

  • CPD installed 60 cameras in District One, funded revitalization of Finley Park and upgrades for Earlewood, Hyatt Park and Riverview Terrace Subdivision.

Mrs. Dozier emphasized

the fact that Columbia College needs the residents and businesses to be actively involved in the new direction and vision planned by President Dozier. The Doziers are no strangers to this area and welcomed the opportunity to return to Columbia.

Columbia College has a percentage of low-income minority enrollees and some are first- generation college students. They need the support and encouragement of the community. Ninety-eight percent Columbia College graduates are employed within one year or return within 6 months to further their education.

The Dozier’s inauguration is scheduled for April 20th.

Some Goals for 29203:

  • Establish a Men’s Basketball Team

  • Provide tickets to the Workshop Theater for Seniors

  • Continue working on beautifying the area

Columbia College is in the planning stages and everyone can help with this progress.
