Efforts and initiatives organized by Richland One’s parent and engagement specialists were among the inaugural recipients of the Palmetto Achievement in Family Engagement Recognition Program. The award program honors schools and districts that establish family engagement goals aligned with the South Carolina Family Engagement K–12 Framework, intentionally implement strategies and provide evidence of achievement or meaningful progress.
Richland One was recognized during the South Carolina Family Engagement Conference September 16 at the University of South Carolina’s Pastides Alumni Center.

Latorsha Murray, Richland One’s coordinator of parent and family engagement, received district-level recognition for the Richland One Family Experience. Two Richland One parent and family engagement specialists were also recognized:

• Tanaisa Green – Eau Claire Cluster Event

• Ontaneque Ottrix – Hopkins Middle School Family Engagement Program
“This conference was especially meaningful to me because family engagement is work that I truly believe in. Families are not just participants in our schools; they are essential partners in the success of our students. I was incredibly proud to see the programs recognized for the intentional work happening across our district.” said Murray.
