Richland One nurse educator and floating nurse Barbara Cone has been named a recipient of the DAISY Extraordinary Nurse Educator Award.

The awards program, which is run by the DAISY Foundation, honors the extraordinary work nurses do in improving practice and advancing patient care through teaching, precepting and mentoring.
“I’m honored to be recognized for the work I truly enjoy. I believe school nurses should have the tools and resources they need to succeed in their roles,” said Cone. “As an educator, I believe it’s important to share new information in an ever-changing world. I hope my input helps others gain knowledge and grow in their nursing career.”
The DAISY Award for school nurses in Richland One started in 2024. Richland One is the only school district in South Carolina and one of two in the United States to offer the award to school nurses.
