Prospective educators can teach while earning their certification through Richland One’s Project R.I.S.E. (Recruiting, Inspiring, Supporting and Educating Prospective Teachers) initiative.

Interested persons can learn more about the initiative during a drop-in Thursday, July 18 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Watkins-Nance Elementary School (2525 Barhamville Road, Columbia, SC 29204). Click here to register.

Richland One launched Project R.I.S.E. in 2022. The initiative targets people with four-year college degrees who have completed all teacher certification requirements but have not passed the Praxis/ PLT. Through Project R.I.S.E., they can be hired as certified teachers while receiving test preparation support and testing cost reimbursement.

To qualify for Project R.I.S.E., interested participants must graduate from an accredited education program for teacher certification and complete student teaching, or be accepted into an alternative certification program with a preliminary qualification letter.

Richland One will provide Project R.I.S.E. participants with Praxis/PLT test preparation materials, professional learning opportunities and testing cost reimbursement.

For more information, contact Dr. Tammy Small, Richland One’s coordinator of special projects for certified employees, at tammy.small@richlandone.org”>tammy.small@richlandone.org or (803) 231- 7463.
