Richland One to hold Annual Dance Showcase

Approximately 200 Richland One dance students will perform some of their biggest numbers of the school year during the district’s annual dance showcase on Thursday, April 3. The event starts at 6 p.m. at A.C. Flora High School (1 Falcon Drive, Columbia, SC 29204). Admission is free.

The middle school and high school honor dance companies’ performances will be choreographed by Adjetey Klufio, an assistant professor of dance at Coker University and co-founder of “Osagyefo Dance Company.” Middle school honor dance students are chosen by their school’s dance teachers. High school honor dance students must

audition to be chosen.

Dancers from middle school and high school dance programs across the district will also be included in the showcase. Students will perform a variety of dance styles from many different genres of music.

“The District Dance Showcase is a unique opportunity for audience members to see what is happening in all dance programs across the district. It is also an opportunity for the students to interact and be inspired by dancers they might not meet or see perform otherwise,” said Katy Dallas, Richland One’s lead dance teacher.
