Richland One proudly honored its 2025–2026 Middle School and High School Coaches of the Year during the district’s Coaches Convocation on August 3 at Dreher High School, celebrating the dedication, leadership, and lasting impact these outstanding coaches have on student-athletes.
Tyronnica Alford, the volleyball and girls basketball coach at Southeast Middle School, was named the Middle School Coach of the Year. The Scorpions girls basketball team won the district’s middle school championship last year, their third consecutive championship win.
“I am so excited. I appreciate this recognition. This year, I’m looking forward to cultivating culture and building leaders,” said Alford.
Robert McCray, the head boys basketball and boys cross country coach at C.A. Johnson High School, was named the High School Coach of the Year. The Hornets boys basketball team won the 2026 Class A state championship, their third championship win in program history.
“It feels great to be recognized. It’s all thanks to my players, my coaching staff, my principal, and my athletics director. They make it happen,” said McCray.
