Morris College graduate Rev. Dr. Jamey O. Graham, Sr. is the newly elected as the 18th President of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina (BEMCSC). He secured this achievement on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Dr. Graham’s investiture ceremony service will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024, 4:00 p.m. at Saint John Baptist Church, located at 3404 West Beltline Boulevard, Columbia, SC.

Subsequent to the announcement of his victory, Dr. Graham stated, “Words cannot express the deep gratitude I have in my heart for

your strong prayers, support, and your vote of confidence in electing me as the 18th President of the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina. As President, I vow to be your servant leader in moving our convention and Morris College forward in the unity of faith through fellowship.”

The objective of the BEMCSC is to uplift the cause of Christ to all, but especially in South Carolina. Within this immense effort we seek to promote Christian education and support well-developed theological curriculum and literary training to our young men and women across the state.

The Convention is a significant Baptist denomination, encompassing approximately 1,100 Baptist churches and 230,000 members throughout South Carolina. Convention auxiliaries include Congress of Christian Education, Brotherhood Convention, Ushers Convention, Music Ministry,

and Young Woman’s Auxiliary (YWA).
