He brokered historic peace agreements between Egypt and Israel, created the Departments of Energy and Education, led efforts to negotiate a hostage crisis in Iran, signed the Panama Canal Treaty, created the Carter Center, and so much more.
“He was ardently committed to preventing and resolving state conflict, promoting freedom and democracy, and fostering the health of millions of people around the world.
“He was a man of faith, a proud son of Georgia, and a patriotic American who loved his country. He believed in better days ahead, togetherness, and the promise of America.
