Reid Chapel AME Church is hosting its Annual Women’s Empowerment Prayer Breakfast on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The theme for the Women’s Day is the “Faithful Through All Generations.”
The speaker for Women’s Day is Mrs. Sierra Artemus. Mrs Artemus is a Columbia native and is widely recognized for her work in local television and media. She is a
media specialist and brings her talents as a voice actor, public speaker, and brand marketing consultant to various creative and professional projects. She recently was WISTV Lifestyle producer and TV Host.
The theme for the Women’s Day is the “Faithful Through All Generations.” (Deuteronomy 7:9)
Reid Chapel AME Church is located at 704 Gabriel
Street in Columbia, SC. It was founded in 1953 by Bishop Frank Madison Reid, Sr., the presiding bishop of the Seventh Episcopal District in the A.M.E. Church. He saw the need to organize an African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Greenview Community in 1949 and appointed the late Rev. L.M. Seward as the first pastor in 1953. It was under Rev. Seward’s leadership when
the church opened V.V. Reid Nursery and Kindergarten. V.V. Reid Academy is the longest serving school founded and operated by a church in South Carolina with over 72 years of service. V.V. Reid has educated thousands of students.
