Reid Chapel AME Church to host Black History event Judge Clifton Newman to be among the honored guests

The Columbia Community is invited to celebrate Black History Month at a special event on Saturday, February 24, beginning at 11:00 am. The event will be held at Reid Chapel AME Church in the Ruth Simon Family Life Center.

Several local organizations are coming together to sponsor this event. They include the Greenview Reunion Foundation, North Columbia Civic Club, National Council of Negro Women, Richland County Education Association-Retired and the Columbia Writers Alliance.

Special guests for the event are Judge Clifton Newman and Mr. Jackie Whitmore, both honorees on the 2024 South Carolina African American History Calendar. The event will also feature African American historical exhibits, musical performances, community vendors, local authors and poets, student artwork and more.

Young people are especially urged to attend as we celebrate and learn more about our history. More details are available at greenviewreunionfoundation.org.
