Prisma Health offers Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp™ for Stroke Survivors and Caregivers

Prisma Health is extending an invitation to stroke survivors and caregivers to register for the “Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp™,” Friday, May 22 – Sunday, May 24, at Camp Cole in Eastover, South Carolina. The cost of participation is $50 per person, covering meals and lodging throughout the weekend. Transportation is included. Scholarships are available through the United Stroke Alliance.

This year’s theme is “Madi Gras”. Attendees can expect a diverse array of activities thoughtfully curated to meet their needs. From engaging games and crafts to enlightening educational sessions and discussions, this retreat offers a holistic experi-

ence aimed at fostering connections, rejuvenating spirits, and creating lasting memories.

“At Prisma Health, we believe that the power of connection is vital for healing and recovery,” said Shannon Sternberg, director of Prisma Health’s stroke program. “This year’s Stroke Camp is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships among stroke survivors and caregivers, creating a supportive community where everyone can share their experiences and find strength in each other. Together, we can build a network of hope and resilience.”

Participants can anticipate an enriching program that includes:

  • Educational sessions and discussions to empower and inform

  • Opportunities to make new friends and savor delicious

  • Pampering activities and a plethora of fun-filled surprises

As a leader in stroke care, Prisma Health boasts a dedicated team of stroke experts, including vascular neurologists, neurocritical care doctors, neurosurgeons, and emergency medicine doctors, available 24/7 to provide care when every second counts. Prisma Health is partnering with the United Stroke Alliance to offer scholarships so that there is not a barrier to attending camp. “We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the warmth and camaraderie of Stroke Camp, regardless of financial constraints,” emphasized Sternberg.
