Prisma Health Children’s Hospital and EdVenture Children’s Museum to host Teddy Bear Clinic

Prisma Health Children’s Hospital and EdVenture are teaming up again to host the Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at EdVenture Children’s Museum in downtown Columbia.

Designed for children and their favorite stuffed animals, the Teddy Bear Clinic provides a fun, interactive experience that helps young patients become more comfortable with healthcare settings. By stepping into the role of caregiver for their stuffed animal, children can build confidence and trust in medical professionals while learning what to expect during a visit to the doctor.

This hands-on event allows children to bring a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal to receive gentle “medical care.” Through imaginative play, children can see their comfort toy examined and treated, helping ease fears they may have about their own future healthcare experiences.

Upon arrival, children will check in at a welcome station and complete a medical questionnaire about their stuffed animal’s “injury.” They will then visit a waiting room before being escorted by a nurse through four interactive treatment stations, including:

· Wellness Check

· Teddy Bear X-ray, to see a special X-ray film of their stuffed animal

· Evaluation and treatment of wounds and boo-boos

· Heartbeat Station

Each visit at the Teddy Bear Clinic is expected to take approximately 15 minutes, depending on attendance. Prisma Health team member volunteers will serve as the attending clinicians at the stations, caring for each “patient” with a diagnosis, words of encouragement, stitches and bandages as needed.

The Teddy Bear Clinic is included in admission to EdVenture for Saturday, August 15. EdVenture’s standard admission rates apply for non-members: $15 for adults, $10 for first responders, military, and seniors (with valid ID’s). Free for children under two and SC Public School Pre-K through 12th grade classroom teachers (with proper teacher ID & email address).
