Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge achieves Magnet \textsuperscript { ® } with Distinction

Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Magnet for its second designation as a Magnet® organization. Prisma Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital has been awarded Magnet with Distinction™—a designation recognizing the highest performing Magnet® organizations around the world. It is one of only three hospitals in South Carolina with this designation.

This credential is a testament to the countless contributions’ nurses, in collaboration with other team members, have made in their commitment to providing quality patient care through innovations in professional nursing practice. The team serves as a role model of elite-level performance of nursing excellence. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. Baptist Parkridge was designated as a Magnet

hospital in 2020.

“Magnet recognition is a tremendous honor and reflects our commitment to delivering the highest quality of care to this community. Our nurses play a vital role in shaping patient outcomes, advancing research and driving innovation,” said Lisa James, DNP, RN, Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Baptist Parkridge. “To earn Magnet recognition once was a great accomplishment and an incredible source of pride for our nurses. Our repeated achievement of this credential—now with Distinction—underscores the foundation of excellence and the values that drive our entire team to strive harder each day to meet the health care needs of our community.”

James added, “This designation also strengthens our partnership with physician colleagues. During our Magnet site visit, several physicians discussed collaborating with nurses on various projects

and elevating nursing through research and evidence-based practices. We appreciate our physicians and the collaborative effort to ensure patients receive the very best care.”

ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program recognized Baptist Parkridge for multiple accomplishments and 13 exemplars, including registered nurse satisfaction and engagement, as well as patient engagement and patient-centered care.

Magnet recognition is considered the gold standard for nursing excellence. U.S. News & World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” rankings include Magnet recognition as a criterion for evaluating inpatient care quality.

The Magnet Model provides a framework for nursing practice, research, and measurement of outcomes. Through this framework, ANCC evaluates applicants across a number of components and dimensions to gauge an organization’s nursing excellence.

The foundation of this model comprises various elements deemed essential to delivering superior patient care. These include the quality of nursing leadership, coordination and collaboration across specialties, and processes for measuring and improving care quality and delivery.
