Prior to that, she spent two years as an assistant softball coach at Clark Atlanta University.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Benedict College in 2019, and was a member of the Lady Tiger softball team. She earned a master’s degree in Social Work in 2021 from the University of Kentucky.
During her four years at Benedict, Lawson was an outfielder who hit .271 with 15 doubles, four triples and two home runs. She scored 106 runs and drove in 60 runs and started 142 out of 145 games. As a senior in 2019, she started all 40 games and hit .333 with 31 runs scored and a career-high 19 RBIs.
Lawson was born in Durham, N.C., to her parents, Charles and Tonya Lawson, and raised in Atlanta, graduating from Westlake High School. Her younger sister, Alexus, was a standout soccer athlete who played at Alabama A&M and Albany State University.
The 2025 season will open Feb. 8 at Winston-Salem State, with the home opener on Feb. 22 against Fort Valley State.
