Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Lambda Sigma Chapter, will host its Fifth Annual Community Legacy Awards Gala on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Newberry College Center for Teacher Education, located at 1121 Speers Street, Newberry, South Carolina.
The Community Legacy Awards Gala is a signature event honoring individuals whose leadership, service, and professional excellence have made a lasting impact on the Newberry community. The 2026 honorees reflect a broad spectrum of public service, education, advocacy, and law enforcement. The 2026 Community Legacy Awards Honorees are: Mrs. Earlean Boles, Retired Educator, Mr. Freddie Chalmers, Law Enforcement Sheriff Lee Foster, Newberry County Sheriff and Mrs. Sandra Riley, Community Advocate.
Proceeds from the Community Legacy Awards Gala support the Silas Dewalt Jr. Scholarship Fund and the chapter’s ongoing community initiatives, including youth mentorship, educational programming, civic engagement, and service projects that benefit residents throughout Newberry and surrounding areas.
Founded on the principle of “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity,” Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. remains committed to honoring leadership, promoting education, and strengthening communities through service.

Women of Faith Celebration o be held on March 7
On Saturday March 7, 4pm, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Conference Center, 1218 Lyon Street, Columbia, Northminster Presbyterian Church will honor 20 octogenarians whose faith journeys are inspirational.
For more than 20 years, during Women’s History Month, Northminster Presbyterian Women have celebrated women who exemplify the Fruit of the Spirit in their place of worship, in their homes, in their chosen professions, and in their communities.
