Palmetto Barber Association elects new officers

A new slate of officer’s vow to hold up the banner of the founder of the Palmetto Barber Association, Mr. F. L. Ellison.

The association was founded in 1960. F. L. Ellison envisioned barbering as a means for self-sufficiency. He saw the association as a way of unifying the licensed professional barbers of SC as well as raising the industry standards via promoting the values of integrity, loyalty, trustworthiness and education.

Members, family and friends all gathered from Florence, Greenville, Charleston, Orangeburg and Columbia at the Busby Street Community Center in Columbia, SC for the passing of the mantle ceremony. Deacon Stewart and the new officers are hard at work ensuring the work of the founder and that of the former state president of twelve years, Mr. Anthony Gibson continues as they work to become even more visible in the community and increase membership across the state.
