The annual Orangeburg Branch NAACP Black History Calendar Tea will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 2259 Rowesville Road in Orangeburg.
The theme for this year’s program is “Vote: Your Life and Democracy Depends On It.” Master of ceremonies will be South Carolina State University’s former head football coach and icon Willie Jeffries. Oratorical speeches will be presented by young Orangeburg area local school students. The Rosemary Griffin and Company choir will present musical performances.
The Black History Calendar Tea is held annually to promote membership and recognize those who have made worthwhile contributions to people of color. In addition, it emphasizes the purpose and importance of the NAACP.
Exhibit tables depicting black history, African-Americans and the Civil Rights Movement will be setup by youths and various sorority and fraternity organizations.
