This year, Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) educators and staff have been awarded more than $ 20,000 in grant funding, empowering them to implement creative and impactful educational projects that go beyond typical classroom resources.
The funding, provided by the Dr. Irene H. Myers Education Grant, honors Dr. Myers’ 45 years of dedicated service to public education. The grants are part of an ongoing initiative by the Orangeburg County School District Education Foundation, a charitable organization committed to enhancing educational opportunities within our local schools.
“We at the OCSD Foundation are proud of this initiative and our ability to support these incredible projects. Our mission goes beyond a commitment to excellence; it’s a pledge to invest in the potential of both teachers and students. It’s an honor to support their efforts, knowing that each grant creates a new opportunity for growth, inspiration, and academic success within our schools,” stated Candace J. Berry-Vaughn, Orangeburg Education Foundation Chair.
These grants will support a wide range of projects, including a STEM-focused enrichment program, a cultural arts initiative, and innovative literacy development activities. By offering this support, the foundation helps educators provide dynamic, hands-on learning experiences for students across the district.
Over $20,000 will be distributed among deserving OCSD educators, with individual grants reaching up to $500.
“Our teachers and staff continue to inspire with their dedication to innovation and student success,” said Dr. Shawn Foster, OCSD Superintendent. “These grants are a testament to their commitment to providing unique, engaging learning opportunities that push beyond traditional boundaries.”
