Orangeburg County School District to host MLK Jr. Oratory Competition

Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) will host its annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, celebrating the voices and talents of 4th and 5th grade students from schools across the district.

The competition highlights students who excel in public speaking and provides a

platform for them to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through thoughtful, original speeches. This year’s theme, “Valuing the Voices of Our Youth,” emphasizes the importance of empowering young leaders and uplifting student perspectives.

The event is open to the public, and families, community members, and media are encouraged to attend. Guests are advised to arrive early, as seating is limited and attendance is expected to be strong.

The event will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church, located at 356 Lariot Road in Orangeburg, SC.
