Lower Richland High School’s Army JROTC drill team won first place overall in the Fourth Brigade Regional Armed Drill Competition. The team competed against schools from Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., North Carolina and South Carolina in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 9.
“I honestly have a loss for words on this year’s achievement. I did not think we would be the best of the best,” said JROTC drill team coach Sgt. First Class Tracy Vaulx. “This
team’s willingness, preparedness and readiness was the driving force for their accomplishment. They spent countless hours working on each
drill event in the heat, cold and sometimes wet conditions. Their goal was to redeem themselves from not placing at all last year.”
