In Loving Memory Rev. Dr. Mary Lou Myers-Montgomery Esq.

Rev. Dr. Mary Lou Myers-Montgomery, a devoted servant of God, scholar, pastor, and public servant, entered eternal rest on February 9, 2026. She was born September 19, 1952, in Columbia, South Carolina, the youngest of sixteen children born to the late Harvey and Ruth Myers.

A lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Myers-Montgomery committed her life to faith, service, and education from an early age. She graduated with honors from Booker T. Washington High School and earned degrees from the University of South Carolina, Georgetown University, Howard University School of Divinity, and studied International Ministries at Oxford University in England. She was the recipient of numerous academic honors, including graduating from Howard University with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Her professional career spanned journalism, law, education, and public service. She served as an Assistant U.S.

Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, a judicial clerk to the Honorable Matthew J. Perry, a staff writer for the Associated Press, and a professor of communications law at Howard University.

Ordained into the Gospel Ministry on June 8, 1986, Rev. Dr. Myers-Montgomery served as pastor of Burroughs Memorial Baptist Church, taught Biblical Literature and Ethics at Claflin University, and led international mission efforts to feed children in South Africa. She was the President of Seek Peace and

Pursue It Ministries, Inc., and led S-P-A-P-I Publishing Company.

Known for her compassion and commitment to good works, she tutored children, provided pro bono legal services, and encouraged countless individuals through faith and service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Moses Montgomery; and several siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, Thomas J. Myers (Trudi) and Andrea L. Myers-Davis (Samuel), along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
