Logan Elementary School Principal David Copeland, Jr. has been named the 2025 Elementary Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators (SCABSE).

SCABSE’s mission is “to ensure a high-quality education for all children, particularly for African-American children, by establishing coalitions, providing forums, facilitating the placement of African-American professionals and influencing public policy.”

Copeland has been the principal at Logan for five years. “It’s amazing to see your hard work come to fruition. I’m humbly grateful to be on the receiving end of this award. It wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing teachers, staff, students and families at Logan. I’m blessed to be working with the very best,” said Copeland.

He will be honored June 7 during SCABSE’s Jazz Brunch at the Brookland Baptist Banquet and Conference Center in West Columbia.
