Dezyah Dewitt, a student from Lexington School District Two, was named as the national winner of the 2025 Future Chefs Challenge, a cooking competition hosted by foodservice provider Sodexo. Dezyah was selected from thousands of students across more than 200 school districts in 30 states and two countries for her creative ‘cheeseburger cupcakes.’

Each participating district held a local competition, with winners advancing to regional judging. Finalists were chosen based on originality, healthiness, ease of preparation, kidfriendliness, and adaptability for school meals.

On Tuesday, May 20, Dezyah was recognized during

an event at the Lexington Two Community Education Center. The event featured an in-kitchen cooking experience led by Sodexo ambassador and award-winning chef and restaurateur, Daniela Soto-Innes, with Dezyah’s recognition included as part of the program.
