The South Carolina Association of School Librarians presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Ida W. Thompson during its March 19-21 conference held at the Columbia Convention Center. She was acknowledged for her ongoing dedication to the organization, her contributions to the library profession, and her commitment to community service. She delivered the keynote address during the conference’s general session, recounting the organization’s accomplishments and paying homage to previous leaders. She served two terms as SCASL President (1987-1988 and 2006-2007). She retired from Richland One as Director of Instructional Technology Services in 2016.
