A 40th Commemorative Anniversary Gala in Lake City, South Carolina, will highlight how the life of astronaut and physicist Dr. Ronald E. McNair continues to inspire students, scientists, and his hometown four decades after the Challenger tragedy. Centered
around his legacy of perseverance, intellectual excellence, and commitment to opening doors for others, the event would blend remembrance with a forward-looking celebration of education and discovery.
The celebration, entitled “40th Commemorative Anniversary Gala – A Journey of Inspiration”, will be held in Lake City on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 6 – 11 p.m. at The Rob, located at 245 South Church Street in Lake City, SC. The special guest speaker will be Vanessa Wyche, director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
