- I. DeQuincey Newman United Methodist Church will observe Laity Sunday on October 19 at 10:00 AM. This event recognizes the significant role of laypersons in the life of the church, and we are pleased to announce that Brother Ivan West will serve as the guest speaker.
Brother West has been an active member of I. DeQuincey Newman UMC for 18 years, contributing in numerous capacities, including his current roles as treasurer and lay servant with the United Methodist Men. His dedication to ministry and leadership exemplifies the spirit of Laity Sunday.
Ivan is married to Kimberly James West and is the father of three sons: Tyler, Collin, and Dylan. In his professional capacity, he serves as an accountant at Allen University, where he continues to make significant contributions through mentorship and service. Renowned for his dynamic and motivational speaking, Brother West has delivered numerous children’s sermons at the church and serves as an exemplary role model for young men within the community.
We look forward to receiving a thought-provoking and motivating address from Brother West. Everyone is welcome to attend and contribute to this significant event.
