Morris College’s new baseball coach hit the ground running during a press conference at the Morris College’s Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center. Morris College’s Athletic Director Coach Frederick Summers stated, “Coach Kentaus ‘K.C.’ Carter is a program builder and the right person for the job. He is a proven program builder, recruiter, and developer of student-athletes with more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience. Known for building competitive programs and developing championship-caliber student-athletes, Carter has established a coaching career centered on recruiting, player development, discipline, and winning.”

Most recently, Carter spent two seasons as an Assistant Baseball Coach at Morehouse College. In 2026, he helped lead the Maroon Tigers to one of the best seasons in program history, winning 25 games and advancing to a third-place finish in the SIAC Tournament.
“As the new coach at Morris College,” said Coach Kentaus Carter, “I aim to build a successful baseball program by recruiting, developing players, and increasing the college’s visibility. My emphasis is hard work over talent, focusing on attitude, hustle, and body language, and I plan to host a youth camp at Riley Park to engage the community, especially the youth.”
“I am confident in Coach Carter’s ability to build the program and encourage community support,” reiterated A.D. Frederick Summers. Morris College President Said Sewell noted,
“We are thoroughly excited and looking forward to this new era for our baseball program aligned with Coach Carter’s commitment to player development and our institutional values. We anticipate further elevation of our team not only its performance on the field but also in character development and academic growth.”
Prior to Morehouse, Carter served as head baseball coach at Clark Atlanta University, where he helped elevate the Panthers into a competitive SIAC program. CAU reached a then-program-record 18 wins in 2018, finished third in the SIAC East Division, and earned the program’s first SIAC Tournament appearance. The Panthers returned to the conference tournament in 2019.
Carter previously spent three seasons at Winston-Salem State University, helping build the Rams into an NCAA Division II powerhouse. During his tenure, WSSU captured three consecutive CIAA Championships and made three straight NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament appearances, including hosting the 2013 regional. He recruited and developed multiple All-CIAA performers while contributing to the program’s academic success.
His coaching experience also includes Florida A&M University, FAMU High School, and several collegiate summer league programs. At FAMU High School, Carter led the program to a district championship and its first state playoff victory.
A former Florida A&M student-athlete, Carter was a versatile utility player who helped the Rattlers reach the MEAC Tournament championship game. He began his collegiate career at Kemper Junior College, where he hit .370, earned All-Star honors, and ranked among the nation’s leaders in stolen bases.
A native of Decatur, Georgia, Carter holds a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation and master’s degrees in sports management and educational leadership. His coaching philosophy is simple: Recruit with purpose. Develop with intention. Compete for championships.
