Jones Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church announces upcoming services

Needing a spiritual uplift, Jones Memorial may be the place you want to be. In addition to its regular weekly services, Jones invites you to attend its upcoming Pastors Appreciation, Homecoming, and Revival.

Rev Zaniel Young, pastor of the First A.M.E. Zion Church, San Francisco, Calif, and a son of Jones Memorial will be the messenger for the Pastor’s Appreciation Service. This service will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 18, 2024, will be designed to praise God and to show appreciation to Pastor Thelma Gordon, for five years of stellar leadership in the church and the community.

On Sunday, August 24, at 11:00 the church will observe its’ annual Homecoming Service. The messenger for this service will be Rev. Dr. Robert E. Christian, Sr., Presiding Elder of the Lanchester District, Palmetto Conference, A.M.E. Zion Church. Rev. Dr. Christian is a former pastor of Jones Memorial and holds the record of having the longest tenure at Jones Memorial as a pastor.

A special Reunion Choir is being organized under the direction of the church’s Minister of Music, Mrs. Louise

Smith. to render the music for this service. Any former choir member desirous of being a part of this choir should come to rehearsals Thursdays, August 15 and 22 at 6:00 p.m.

That afternoon, at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Chris Denny, pastor of Westminister Presbyterian Church, Columbia, S.C. will be the proclaimer for the opening of the Revival which will continue Monday and Tuesday evenings, August 26 and 27 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Reverend Jermaine Armor, pastor of St. Luke A.M. E. Zion Church, Wilmington, N.C. returning for his second year will be the Revivist for theses two evenings.
