Irmo to host domestic violence awareness family walk and health fair

HUSH No More Executive Director Vanessa Guyton and the Town of Irmo Mayor Bill Danielson are calling upon fellow citizens in the Irmo, SC area to join the life-reclaiming organization’s community walk to end domestic violence on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 starting at 9 A.M. This will be a family walk and health fair.

The all-ages walk begins at 9:00 AM and concludes 12:00 PM. This free family event is hosted by Sierra Artemus and Summer James, and includes a walk in the beautiful Town of Irmo, a Domestic Violence Survivor Tribute for Victim, free t-shirts, medals, kid zone, face painting, as well as other community nonprofit organizations, and vendors. Visit www.hushnomore.org/dv-walk for more information and to register.

HUSH No More stands ready to offer Survivors resources, love and support to escape their abusers and to provide free counseling services for all the HUSH Topics.

HUSH Topics are those topics that individuals, families, and organizations have a hard

time discussing, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child sexual abuse, sex trafficking, sexual harassment, etc. Statistics show that these topics happen in 1 out of 6 households and the numbers are growing. Studies show 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence. Every 98 seconds someone is sexually assaulted. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men experience sexually harassed in the workplace. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have been victims of sexual violence by an intimate partner. Speaking out is the first step of escape.

A survivor herself, Dr. Guyton founded HUSH No More in 2019. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing a platform for survivors to strengthen others by sharing their experience with the “HUSH Topics” and to receive support from other Survivors and Victim Advocates. The simple but effective platform has led to Dr. Guyton speaking internationally to spread the message that You Have A Right To Tell It & Heal.
