I DeQuincey Newman United Methodist Church celebrated their 40th Anniversary on Sunday, April 21, 2024, during the 10 a.m. worship service. There was standing room only in the church. The guest speaker was the Retired Pastor of Orangeburg United Methodist Church Rev. Anna Graham Miller. The theme for the anniversary was “Growing Stronger, Growing Deeper, Reaching Higher.

During the service former

Reverends and their families were recognized for serving as pastors of the church Rev. Luonne A. Rouse, Rev. Dr. Ernest Etheredge, Rev. Dr. Augustus Rodgers, Rev. Joseph A Wilson, II, Rev. Dr. Walter H. McKelvey, Sr., Rev Charles L. White, Jr., Rev. Jeremiah F. Page, The Late Rev. Jack C. Washington and the Late Joseph Frazier.

The church presented Mrs. Corrie Boyce and the Carolina Panorama an I. DeQuincey Newman Spirit of

Activist Medal.

Rev. Anna Graham Miller preached from the Book of Joshua reminding the church sometimes “You have to STEP into the rising waters”. The Reunion Choir which was a combination of the Anniversary and former members provided songs of inspiration.

I DeQuincey Newman United Methodist Church is located 7801 Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Frank V. James is the senior Pastor.
