Columbia Conversations event will feature Injustice in

Focus: The Civil Rights Photography of Cecil William

Join Historic Columbia for a talk and book signing by Civil Rights photographer Cecil Williams.

His new book, Injustice in Focus: The Civil Rights Photography of Cecil Williams, documents the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina from the 1940s through the 1960s.

In conversation with award-winning journalist Claudia Smith Brinson, Williams will discuss his role in the movement from the landmark case of Briggs v. Elliot to the aftermath of the Orangeburg massacre in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The event will be held on February 15, 2024 at the Boyd Horticultural Center, located at 1615 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201. The event is free, but registration is required. Books are available for purchase onsite from USC Press beginning at 5:00 p.m. The lecture will take place from 5 {: } 3 0 \mathrm { – } 7 {: } 3 0 \mathrm { p. m } .
